One of my first major projects at Blueboard was to design our San Diego office to accommodate the quickly growing team. Over two months, I redesigned the office contracting vinyl graphics suppliers to create an immersive Blueboard experience in office.
As we shifted to work-from-home in early 2020, the focus turned to how we could ensure our new employees felt a part of the brand and how we could keep the morale of existing employees high. We decided to make a major investment into a large selection of swag for Blueboarders to kickoff 2021.
THE PROCESS
THE IMPACT
After going through a major rebranding in late 2019, Blueboard was looking to have their new image represented everywhere, including in our office. As a first time endeavor, I started off gathering insights and feedback from coworkers about what they would like to see in their new office. Once I had a strong grip on the communal goals, I started to plan desk pod layouts to ensure my designs would accommodate the number of new desks we need to add. I then went through cycles of iteration and review in order to perfect our creative. After that was finalized I sought out vendors to put all of my interior design plans into action.
THE LEARNINGS
THE LEARNINGS
Both of these projects were a huge learning experience for me. As some of the first interior design and apparel design projects I had been tasked with professionally, it was a make-or-break situation. After endless hours of researching best practices for designing in a massive scale and in terms of apparel, finding solid vendors, and making sure I was staying in budget all the while, Blueboard, including it's Founders, were extremely satisfied with the physical brand experience I delivered.
BREAKIN' DOWN WALLS
BREAKIN' DOWN WALLS
Expanding called for breaking down a wall between our previous office and the space we were expanding into. This created a hallway between the two office spaces and allowed for two more conference rooms, three call booths, 12 desks, and one large common area bridging the two offices.
NEW LOOK, SAMEISH OFFICE
NEW LOOK, SAMEISH OFFICE
We formally debuted the redesigned office in February 2020. I used brand elements such as the ripples to convey movement throughout the space and featured the company mission over the common space.
Through the later part of 2020 and into 2021, Blueboard's headcount grew exponentially. After managing to create a successful remote onboarding process, making sure new employees felt a part of the team was a crucial next step. Along with internal branding assets such custom Slack icons of our iconography, LinkedIn headers, and branded headshots, I designed a full package of Blueboard swag for each person in company to choose from. As we developed the brand, more swag and assets for in-person events started popping up (pencils, notebooks, tradeshow collateral).
As a part of a video mailer campaign, we created custom brochures, boxes, and shipping boxes to deliver an exciting and unique brand experience to prospects before they even opened the brochure. Custom logo and brand stamps cover the exterior shipping box to provide a handcrafted feel with every delivery.
